Through the efforts of Credit Union employees, Credit Union of Georgia was able to donate a substantial amount of supplies to the Cherokee Violence Family Center located in Canton. Credit Union of Georgia received a “wish list” from CFVC of items they were in need of. Some of these things included copy paper, tape, pots & pans, cleaning supplies, ziploc bags, vacuum cleaners, light bulbs, tissues, diapers, toilet paper, and more. Credit Union of Georgia was able to provide these items to the center through donations.

In June and July, members had the opportunity to win cash prizes just for paying their bills. Members who to made three or more bill payments in those two months, each payment equaled an entry into the sweepstakes. Mr. Edwin Jones was the selected Credit Union winner of the $100 prize! Cherokee County Schools Celebrated a Ribbon Cutting with Indian Knoll Elementary School on Univeter Road in Canton. Credit Union of Georgia Representative, Ms. Kathy Bouyett presented a $500.00 check to Media Specialist Ms. Jennifer Lewis. These funds are used to help furnish books for the new library.

Now in its second year, the Credit Union Days program at Marietta Center for Advanced Academics is really growing. A credit union representative is on-site at MCA once a month to take deposits from students with Savasaurus Savings Accounts. MCA student, Savannah, is pictured with Rebecca Cooper.

On September 30th, KSU hosted their 2011 Homecoming celebration. The Credit Union participated in the event by providing and driving convertibles for the Homecoming Court during the parade. After the Homecoming parade, students gathered on the Campus Green for the Homecoming festival. The Credit Union spoke to students about the benefits of membership and handed out promotional goodies.

Credit Union of Georgia Business Development Director Rebecca Cooper, was chosen to participate as Teacher for a Day at Hickory Hills Elementary School in Marietta on Thursday (September 30th). Hickory Hills Elementary School is part of the Marietta City Schools system and has been recognized as a Music in Education National Consortium Learning Lab School.
This program gives the business and community leaders of Cobb County a chance to work side-by-side with a Cobb County or Marietta City Teacher of the Year for a day.
Ms. Cooper spent the day alongside Teacher of the Year Nikki Clotfelter, where she was able to experience day in the life of a kindergarten teacher. Ms. Cooper assisted Ms. Clotfelter with her class by participating in various activities including reading a story to the class, helping with an art project, and an interactive reading lesson. Ms. Cooper was impressed with the way Hickory Hills incorporates performing and visual arts into their everyday instruction.

In an effort to raise money for the Cobb Schools Foundation, the Credit Union is traveling on the Cobb Throwdown Showdown Tour to High Schools in the Cobb County area to give fans the opportunity to donate a buck to win a truck. During half time a lucky fan is drawn for their chance to throw a football in the window of a brand new Chevy Silverado truck to win it! At the recent South Cobb vs. Wheeler game, a South Cobb parent who won a chance to throw the football is pictured with Jason Blakey, Sheri Brante, Executive Director of the Foundation, and Donnie Albert, Cobb County Educator.

The A DAY for Reinhardt campaign is an annual effort to provide support for Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt University. Credit Union of Georgia is a huge supporter of the Cherokee County transportation department. Each year, the Credit Union attends their back-to-school meeting and provides each driver with a special Credit Union of Georgia gift.

Credit Union of Georgia Sponsors Kennesaw State Men’s Basketball Game

Credit Union of Georgia was the proud sponsor of Kennesaw State University Men’s basketball game as they took on Mercer University on January 25th. As a team-wide effort to raise awareness for prostate cancer, the KSU Owls Basketball team and fans sported baby blue attire. Credit Union of Georgia presented a $5,000 donation check to Owl Nation, a student rewards program. Owl Nation is a fan-driven and sponsor-supported incentive program to increase attendance and KSU Spirit among students at selected KSU sporting events.

Credit Union of Georgia Hosts Electronics Recycling Day

Credit Union of Georgia partnered with Green2LiveClean.com to host the Credit Union’s first ever Electronics Recycling Day Event. This effort was offered to give the community a safe way to destroy their computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices they no longer need. On Saturday, January 29th, a recycling unit was present at the Credit Union’s KSU Branch. The Credit Union had over 60 members bring their unwanted electronics to the location. The event was a huge success. Credit Union of Georgia offered the recycling services to the community free of charge.

On December 3rd Credit Union of Georgia employees donated $1,500 to Clark Howard’s “Clark’s Christmas Kids” program. Credit Union of Georgia’s Amanda Arnold and Lauren Howard visited the Wal-Mart in Duluth to shop for over 20 deserving children. Each child made a list of the top 3 items that they would love to see under their tree Christmas morning and it was the Credit Union’s pleasure to fulfill those wishes! Credit Union of Georgia collected over $1,500 from their 78 employees for this special cause. This year marked the 20th year that Clark Howard and AM 750 and 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB join together with the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services to provide gifts for children in foster care across Georgia.
